GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments are used in medicine to treat specific conditions approved by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). The hyperbaric oxygen therapy team will be responsible for your hyperbaric oxygen therapy and will coordinate your care with your referring primary physician. Jacobi Medical Center uses a large, walk-in multiplace hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber that can comfortably treat nine adults at the same time.
HOW DOES HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY WORK 100% Oxygen delivered at increased pressure produces an increase in the amount of oxygen being carried by blood. This results in more oxygen being delivered to the organs and tissues in the body. INDICATIONS FOR HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY TREATMENT Patients are accepted for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy after referral from their own Physician and consultation with a Hyperbaric Physician.
